India Educational & Business Program: the Italian Trade Agency project for doing business in the Indian market

The integrated process, designed for Italian SMEs of the agro-industrial and food processing sector, will see the involvement of Octagona, who, initially, will take charge of the training phase

Nowadays, India is one of the non-European markets with major opportunities for Italian companies: the Subcontinent is experiencing an astonishing phase of economic development and the program of reform implemented by New Delhi, in order to attract foreign direct investments, represents a tremendous driver for development. Business opportunities are present in several sectors: among them, the agroindustrial and food processing one, where the Government is investing a lot of resources in order to enhance the agricultural productivity and strengthen the industrial capacity in the transformation and conservation of food.

About this topic, Italian Trade Agency, in collaboration with Confindustria Veneto, Confindustria Emilia-Romagna e Confindustria Lombardia, has realized the project “India – Educational & Business Program”, a training path for Italian SMEs of the agroindustrial and food processing sector, with the aim of fostering their business in India.

The project is composed of 3 phases: Training and Assessment, Business Scouting in India and Incoming of Indian operators in Italy.

As far as the first phase of training is concerned, it is articulated in 4 modules of 1 day each which will take place in the regions abovementioned. The Italian Trade Agency entrusted to Octagona (among the Italian excellence in the provision of international business services and present in India with 3 offices) the second module “Supportive tools for the internationalization process in India”, which will take place as follows:

  • 16 April in Padua (at Assindustria Venetocentro office, via E.P. Masini 2);
  • 17 April in Parma (at the office of Unione degli Industriali Parmensi, Str. Ponte Caprazucca 6/a);
  • 18 April in Milan (at Assolombarda office, via Pantano 9).

The lessons will be held by Alessandro Fichera (Managing Partner Octagona) and will focus on the following topics:

  • Entry strategies and distribution channels in India;
  • Promotion and advertising strategies;
  • Product registration and labeling;
  • Indian Food Parks.
